DJ DisasZt aka Daniel Fuerst-Zoffel started getting into the Drum’n’Bass game in early 1994. He bought his first set of decks and records that year and also came up with his DJing alias. When the grandmother of the then 16 year old Mixmaster grew aware of the racket going on in the upstairs bedroom, she allegedly yelled: “What kind of a disaster is this!” in reference to the loud electronic music. Also she had just found out that her hearing-aid had systematically been tempered with. Lending a “Z” from his last name to Daniel’s disaster, gave him his street name and countless victories in scrabble.
He hooked up with DJ Combo and together they bought all new the vinyl on the market, playing it on parties without pay or permission. In 1998 his first serious bookings started coming in and he founded the legendary “Bass Infection Crew” along with DJ Phazes and Dom.n.k.
In 2001 he started producing his own tunes. The first one to be released was “Get it on” under the alias “The Unexpected“on the Austrian Drum’n’Bass compilation “Inside Aut”. Around the same time he also launched his business as a party host for most of Austria’s provinces like Tyrol, Styria & Burgenland.
In 2002 DJ DisasZt started running his own event series called “MAINFRAME”, subheading: Vienna Drum’n’Bass Massive in the Viennese WUK club. As the party crowd grew, MAINFRAME was able to move to Vienna’s biggest regular venue for DNB: The Arena, it holds up to 2000 people. Since 2004 DJ DisasZt is a resident at D.Kay’s weekly Drum’n’Bass club “Beat It” in the Flex/Vienna.
2006 was a particularly important year in his career. With his subsequent business partner Andy, he launched the ZOO club, a melting pot for urban music, culture and various styles of electronic music, in close vicinity of the zoo of Schönbrunn. Since then the MAINFRAME CLUBNIGHTS with their unique flair, are a fixed point in the schedule of every Viennese DNB head. 2007 was all about community for DJ DisasZt. That year he founded the “BASSCITY” event series, where the stage exclusively belongs to Austrian artists. At the same time Mainframe entered its sixth year and grew to be Austria’s biggest monthly DNB blowout.
In 2008 his focus shifted more towards music programming and the characteristically dirty Austrian sound. With “MAINFRAME RECORDINGS” he founded his own label. It’s probably his biggest venture to date and home to the crème de la crème of Austrian producers. At the same time he is collaborating with Shimon on releases on “Audio Porn”. Watch out for future releases left and right! With his wide range of styles DJ DisasZt keeps the crowd jumping everywhere! He is among the best and well known Drum’n’Bass DJs in and around Austria.
