Obwohl mit den kälteren Tagen auch vermehrt die härteren und deeperen Klänge in den Berliner Clubs wieder Einzug finden, dürfte an diesem Samstag der Suicide Circus auch verwöhnten Gemütern und langjährigen Anhängern der härteren Beats als ganz besonderer Leckerbissen erscheinen. Im Rahmen der „Acid ist fertig“ – Reihe um DJ Flush konnte mit dem aus Minneapolis stammenden DJ ESP aka Woody McBride zur Huldigung der guten alten 303 nämlich eine der absoluten Legenden des säurehaltigen Sounds gewonnen werden.

Bereits in den frühen neunziger Jahren wirkte er maßgeblich mit an der Entwicklung der Rave-Szene von Minnesota durch seine eigenen „Depth Probe“- Veranstaltungen und späteren Veröffentlichungen unter dem Pseudonym 4D. Seine Produktionen waren geprägt vom typischen Sound der Roland TB-303, was sie auch weiterhin – unabhängig des Künstlernamens – bleiben sollten. So konnte er besonders als DJ ESP einige Veröffentlichungen auf Labels wie Generator Records, Bush oder Primevil sowie auch auf seinem eigenen Label Communique Records vorweisen, denen mittlerweile Kultstatus nachgesagt wird. Seine säuerliche Vielfalt wird er Live zum Besten geben; thematisch passend zum Abend sollte es demnach zugehen!

Nebenbei dürfte Woody eines der interessantesten Klischees der guten alten Acid-Szene wohl völlig aus dem Weg räumen; der Vertreter der Straight Edge Kultur machte nicht nur in Bezug auf sich sondern auch auf seine Partys generell darauf Aufmerksam, die Musik drogenfrei zu genießen.

Wie genau das dann im Suicide Circus mit der lokalen Verstärkung von Killekill-Head DJ Flush sowie Killekill-Veteran Funkateer und dem aus dem Nichts aufgetauchten Frank Bean vonstatten geht, muss schon jeder selbst heraus finden.
