Fifteen million million people make Los Angeles one of the most culturally diverse places on the planet. We talk to three of LA's most prominent electronic music artists, Santiago Salazar, Silent Servant and John Tejada, who share their insights on the ever-changing City Of Angels.

Over its 200-year history Los Angeles has transformed from a small pueblo into a multi-cultural urban sprawl, a melting pot of Hispanic, Asian, and European influences. Known as the 'entertainment capital of the world' for its accumulation of film studios, radio stations, and record company headquarters, the city's music scenes are as diverse as its inhabitants.

From gangster rap and hardcore punk to the city's famous Hispanic Morrissey fans - fervent admirers of every conceivable musical genre and niche can be found in Los Angeles. With seemingly every second rock band of the planet hailing from LA, the Californian megalopolis is first and foremost a rock music city. The West Coast hip-hop sounds pioneered by N.W.A. and Dr. Dre come in a close second though, and electronic music has been gaining ground over the past decade as well, establishing lively scenes for house music, techno, electronica, and various hybrid forms of dubstep and experimental hip-hop.
For this week's City Focus on Los Angeles we talk to three producers who have had a major influence on electronic music emanating from California: Santiago Salazar is well known as a member of Underground Resistance, Los Hermanos and Ican, and has recently set up a fresh label, Historiy y Violencia, together with John Mendez a.k.a. Silent Servant, our second guest, whose forward-thinking productions have recently invigorated the dub techno genre via labels such as Sandwell District.

We have further visited LA's tech-house pioneer John Tejada, whose prolific production work has graced the world's finest club music labels since the mid-1990s, and who has been running his own imprint, Palette Recordings, for just as long. Tejada is also one half of I'm Not A Gun, the acclaimed avant-rock/ambient project with guitarist Takeshi Nishimoto, whose fifth album, 'Solace', has just been released on City Centre Offices.
