This time around resident Rob Coley turns in another 50 minutes of stellar jazz, pulling out a neat selection of current releases / reissues and pairing them with the usual classic material we feature on this site. He kicks off the session with something fresh (and free) from Wah Wah 45s' Scrimshire, whose "Rain in July" features some lovely and moody trumpet work from Nick Etwell. Next up we travel to Detroit via Scandinavia as Ricky Tick Records drop some heavyweight big band business and we unearth some timeless Tribe material and fusion from Will Sessions and Mike Longo. A newly reissued nugget from The Afro Soul-Tet, an outstanding piece from pianist Gérard Maimone and The Rhythmagic Orchestra's Afro-Cuban take on Machito round off the selection before Les DeMerle's fittingly climatic 'San Quentin Quail' ends it on a high note.
