idio-audio started as a series of impromptu gatherings organized by the infamous Idiosyntactix Strategic Arts & Sciences Alliance at the late TransForum media gallery located at Queen and Bathurst in downtown Toronto, where a 25 watt transmitter was inconspicuously setup broadcasting on 99.1 fm band, then empty, now occupied by the CBC Radio One, a Canadian Federal Broadcaster.
After three months of successful and rather lively shows, the idio-audio got finally shut down by the evildoers from Industry Canada under a threat of a $40,000 fine. however, by then the idios have congealed into a loose collective of friends, the idiophiles, and formed an online community/mailing list, initially setup by Dmytri Kleiner with a website soon followed designed by Alexander Braun.
