It depends upon. you. Said and done. That`s how Marco Resmann, Marcus Meinhardt and Hawks Grunert self-actualised themself with Upon You. Their personal platform for their own music as well as befriended producers and exiting newcomers. It started in February 2007. Marcus Resmann (a.k.a. Phage) “Vut & Vat EP” heralded a release-marathon which such young labels hardly achieve. Almost every month a new EP was released... and so close to 30 records appeared wearing the Upon You logo. That the high demand to quality was not left behind shows a glance into the charts of many DJ`s- Tiefschwarz, Karotte, Brothers Vibe, Steve Bug or Someone Else regularly play Upon You Records. At the same time you can find the label on front in the charts of the (German) Music Mag „Groove“. The headquarter of Upon You lies in Berlin. It was here, where the three protagonists discovered the different sources of sounds, game and music. Each independantly growing as a DJ, producer and party host to scene-heavy weights. Do to this, Marco Resmann counts as one of the accomplished producers of the capital. Both solo as Phage and in projects like Luna City Express. Marcus Meinhardt meanwhile rises for years as an exceptionally gifted DJ and party organiser. Hawks Grunert worked for many years for the music-magazine „Frontpage“, operated with Tanith the label Timing Recordings and is instigating a DJ escort agency. Now they`re bundeling their energy into Upon You. And although Berlin is their center the focus is aimed international, musically versatile-revealing a lot of love to the detail. You could superficially call the Upon You profile Tech-House but with every release a new nuance of ambitious and functional club sound is being absorbed. Upon You wants to be more.
That ranges from the cooperation with be friended label artists: The Cheapers, Channel X, Ruede Hagelstein, Santorini, Re-UP and Mathias Mesteno to high quality record covers made by the Berlin design bureau Eat and Drink + Design as well as European label nights made by Upon You Bookings- a fusion of the label with the former booking agency Mind The Crap .Another project of the three is the is the compilation series >Home Sweet Home< as a result of their monthly genuine after hour.
And Upon You wont rest. A n own online-shop was launched by the end of 2008. In the Arena Club, you can visit regularly the label night called “Chapeau” and last but not least Upon You went digital in releasing on the MP3 shops of your trust.

Und so verwirklichten sich Marco Resmann, Marcus Meinhardt und Hawks Grunert mit Upon.You ihre persönliche Plattform für die eigene Musik sowie für befreundete Produzenten und spannende Newcomer. Im Februar 2007 ging es los. Marco Resmanns (a.k.a. Phage) »Vut & Vat EP« läutete ein Release-Marathon ein, wie er nicht alltäglich ist für solch ein junges Label. Fast jeden Monat erschien eine neue EP und so sind innerhalb von zweieinhalb Jahren knapp 30 Platten mit dem Upon.You-Logo erschienen. Dass dabei der hohe Anspruch nicht auf der Strecke blieb, zeigt ein Blick in die Charts vieler DJs – Tiefschwarz, Karotte, Brothers´ Vibe, Steve Bug oder Someone Else spielen regelmäßig Upon.You-Platten. Auch in den Charts des (deutschen) Musikmagazins Groove ist das Label immer wieder auf vorderen Rängen zu finden.
Berlin ist das Zentrum für Upon.You: Hier entdeckten die drei Protagonisten die verschiedensten Spielarten elektronischer Musik und sind jeder für sich als DJ, Produzent und Veranstalter zu Szene-Größen gewachsen. So zählt Marco Resmann zu den versiertesten Produzenten der Hauptstadt – sowohl solo als Phage als auch in Projekten wie Luna City Express. Auch Marcus Meinhardt ist seit vielen Jahren ein begnadeter DJ und Veranstalter. Hawks Grunert wiederum arbeitete jahrelang für das Musik-Magazin »Frontpage«, betrieb mit Tanith das Label Timing Recordings und führt seit 2003 eine DJ-Escort-Service-Agentur. Neben all den einzelnen Projekten bündeln die drei einen gehörigen Teil ihrer Energien nun in Upon.You. Und obwohl Berlin der Mittelpunkt ist, die Ausrichtung des Labels ist international, musikalisch vielseitig und offenbart viel Liebe zum Detail. So lässt sich das Upon.You-Profil zwar grob unter Tech-House beschreiben, aber mit jeder neuen Platte kommt eine weitere Nuance des anspruchsvollen wie funktionalen Club-Sounds hinzu.
Upon.You will einfach mehr: Das beginnt bei der freundschaftlichen Zusammenarbeit mit den Label-Künstlern The Cheapers, Mathias Mesteño, Ruede Hagelstein, Santorini, Re-UP und Channel X. Das reicht aber ebenso zum hochwertigen Full-Cover jeder Platte, gestaltet von Frank Gräfe von Eat, Sleep + Design, sowie zu europaweiten Label-Nächten, selbst veranstaltet von Upon You Bookings, einer Fusion des Labels mit der ehemaligen Booking-Agentur Mind The Crap. Ein besonderes Liebhaberprojekt der drei ist die Compilation-Serie »Home Sweet Home Sessions« zur gleichnamigen, wohl renommiertesten Afterhour-Reihe von Berlin. Jedes Jahr erscheint eine neue zweiteilige 12“-Compilation mit Tracks von dort aufgetretenen DJs. Überhaupt zeigt sich die tiefe Verbundenheit der Upon.You-Betreiber zu ihrer Heimatstadt immer wieder – Marco Resmann, Marcus Meinhardt und auch The Cheapers pflegen ihre DJ-Residencies im Berliner Club Watergate, im Berliner Arena Club findet seit Anfang 2009 regelmäßig die Label-Nacht »Chapeau!« statt und auch in der Panorama Bar schlägt die Label-Crew des öfteren in großer Runde hinter den Turntables auf.
Upon.You bleibt dabei ständig in Bewegung. Ende 2008 wurde ein eigener Online-Shop gelauncht und seit Anfang 2009 gibt es mit Upon You Digital auch exklusive Digital-Releases in den wichtigsten MP3-Shops zu finden. Ende 2009 bekommt Upon.You sogar Nachwuchs: mit »Upon You Sweet & Sour Series« startet ein Sublabel für viel versprechende neue Produzenten – Eine Plattform also für sichere Geheimtipps. Musikalisch bleibt es allerdings ebenso offen wie Upon.You mit seinem mittlerweile gefestigten und ausgereiften Künstlerstamm. Show less
