This idea is also reflected in the name raum...musik, what just should mean to try to create a new space for new new music or to let the music its own universe, without being stilistically bounded.
Das Label raum...musik wurde 1998 gegruendet.
The sound of the first years was strongly influenced by Dub and the most important artists through then were D.Diggler, Dub Taylor, Dave DK and others. In this time the label released about 20 singles, two more compilations and some albums. Some publications were more influenced by Techno, others were more minimal or housy. In 2001 Dorian Paic started to work for the label, after releasing a maxi single on raum...musik. Dorian knew the owner of the label Olaf Zern through is occupation at the Freebase record shop in Frankfurt.
Dorian became more and more involved in the label activities and so it was decided, that he should care for the A'n'R department indipendently. Dorian worked as a DJ since ten years and his longstanding experience at Freebase as ideal conditions for this job. They got supported by Patrick Zeimer, who is even today taking care of press & promotion. Since then some time has passed by, new artists were added and elucidated, that the isn't just reduced to the Dub sound of the early days. Richard Davis, Jeff Bennet and Sami Liuski, better known as Bangkok Impact, released beyond diverse other pseudonyms on the label. Steve Bug, Bernd Maus, Alexaner Kowalski, Robag Wruhme, and Guid Schneider produced remixes.
Other aritsts like Sweet N Candy from Berlin, Dominik Eulberg, who was totally unknown, as he released his first track at raum...musik or Dub Kult from London and not at least Patrick Chardronnet are the new generation, who are developing the profile of the label. Their music still reflects the main idea about the label: having fun with diverse music, which is also compatible to the club. Show less
