In October 1995 ProgCity released its first record. But the planing of the Hannover based label already began in early 1995, when Klaus Spitzner, Andy Bolleshon and Martin Buttrich hooked up to create a new sound.
In the beginning there were just a few producers like Sounds Of Life (Buttrich, Boleshon and DeeDee) who put out their new progressive house tracks. Although the sound was really hard in those early days, it wasnt by any time techno, but rather their own definition of timeless, raw city groove ProgCity!
PCMS007 - This is the magical number and as well a big release that grabs international attention on the young label. The track of this catalogue number is called This is the only way, which was licensed by Liquid Groove US (label of Oliver Stumm and Stephan Mandrax). From now on ProgCity started to conquer the world.
The Philosophy and name of ProgCity depends on an musical aspect. Its producers never wanted to be classified into a determinate genre. They all have different roots, from funk, hip hop to old school and disco or r&b (...). All of them were free in their creative musical producing. ProgCity dictate no borders, but has the demand to release high quality and timeless music.
Now, 11 years later in 2006, ProgCity looks back on over 50 releases by international artists, like Can7, DeeZee, Jamie Lewis, Matt Caselli, So Phat!, Louis Benedetti, Hardsoul, Torso, Playmaker, Tiger Stripes, Daren Baxen, Sounds Of Life, Afropeans Tiger Stripes, Lars LB Behrenroth, Bionik Phunk, Karol XIV, Ken N., Ralf Gum, Shik Stylko, Mateo & Matos, Alexander East and many many more in the next 10 years...and another great sublabel called ProgCity Deep , which has already put out 20 fantastic deep house voyages.
