In 1924 Jules Stein founded MCA as an agency for musicians, bands and actors. Through the purchase of Universal Picture the film & actors industry became the centre of the company. After 50 successful years the company was sold to Universal Music. Meanwhile the MCA merged totally to Universal and doesn't exist as MCA Records any more. During its existence it released artists like Louie Armstrong, Mary J. Blige, Blackalicious, Jimi Hendrix, Neil Diamond and Steppenwolf, but also DJ Shadow.
