The story of international success finds its beginning back in 1985. It all started with the idea of releasing digital video clips and specially mixed DJ sets to go with them: the X-Mix series was born. Those brilliantly compiled mixes helped X-Mix to great recognition among the club scene while the video clips proved award-winning all over the globe.
Ten years later, the DJ-Kicks series came to life. A revolutionary concept was realized since complete albums with DJ cuts to be used in your home stereo were completely unknown at that time. Thrilled by the idea of bringing the vibrant sound of the dancefloor to the listener's home, music innovators such as Kruder and Dorfmeister, Nightmares On Wax, Thievery Corporation adn Stereo MCs, dared to explore new frontiers kicking the DJ series to worldwide fame.
1996 saw !K7 taking the next step. A platform for artist albums were launched to provide long-term cooperations. A global network of !K7 offices and distribution units was set up in order to offer the best infrastructure to a larbe number of internationally acknowledged artists.
!K7 offers the complete range of today's electronic music. Eyes, ears, minds - all wide open to keep pace with new developments and styles. !K7's focus is not limited to a specific genre or style. !K7 sees the whole of the multi-faceted picture - in full stereo and the top notch quality for which the Berlin-based label stands.
