DISCOURSE Humanity at the crossroads:
Multiple crises demand a multitude of solutions!
With an extensive program of discussions, lectures, workshops and films, the Elevate Festival aims to create a better understanding of the deep interconnections between the most fundamental and drastic crises facing humanity today: climate and energy, economy, politics, food, natural resources and the media.
Essential related issues and important dots that remain unconnected or misunderstood in the mainstream media, among political decision makers and in the general public discourse, will be analysed and
discussed by an interdisciplinary group of cutting-edge scientists,
activists and critical thinkers. This will be the basis for shedding light on promising alternatives, groundbreaking activism and innovative projects at the forefront of creating a more just, democratic and sustainable world.
MUSIC & ARTS:
Following up from past years, Elevate continues to keep track of current developments in underground music, offering in its intimate atmosphere a blend of contemporary electronic music genres: from multi-instrumentalist Bass Clef, promising Detroit House and Techno producer Omar S and eclectic Dave Aju, to the minimalist sounds of Byetone and the indie electronic pop outfit Micachu & The Shapes. At the same time, the Elevate Festival is also keeping an eye on local artists, such as The Clonious, Clara Moto and Simon/off, presenting
them both live and on the third edition of the Elevate Compilation.
The mastermind behind one of the most innovative and visionary labels today, Kode9 a.k.a Steve Goodman will provide an Austrian premiere of highly anticipated music acts featured on his Hyperdub label, as well as present his book, “Sonic Warfare - Sound, Affect and the Ecology of Fear.” Sunday’s closing program will feature concerts by the German pioneers of experimental electronic music, Cluster, sonic alchemist Jon Hopkins, dream pop/shoegaze, ambient techno/IDM band Seefeel and the intense noise, post-industrial, musique concrète expression of Carla Bozulich’s Evangelista.
The elevate lab will again host an interactive program of workshops,
discussions and lectures. Show less
