Do you have problems during the upload?
If the upload got stuck, while it was running (if you still can see the red progress bar), this might be referable to your upload stream rate, please check the steadiness of your internet connection. Another reason could be a fault in the file you want to upload: maybe it got corrupted during converting? Do you have problems while processing?
As soon as the upload is finished your file was successfully stored on our server. It can take a while, from a few minutes up to 24 hours, until your file can be processed on our server. As the processing started you can close the window or leave the page. You will get a note on your dashboard, when the file is finished. If you don't get a note and cannot find the recording in the recordings section of your dashboard, there must be something wrong: please drop us a line to support@play.fm and we will get back to you immediately.

Getting started
Go to http://www.play.fm/recording/create and provide the community with some general information about your recording, like type, location, artists and styles. Users should find your recording and all related information easily, so please add only one artist, style, link to external website and so on per line. To many fields we added "autocompletion": this means, that after you entered the first letters our database is searched (this might take a few seconds, please have patience) and the autocompletion suggests already existing profiles and styles. Thousands of artists, clubs, styles, crews and events already have existing profiles, so you have a good chance to find the correct profile or style via this too.

File Upload
Please note our general and technical requirements The speed of the upload is determined to the volume of upload stream your provider offers. Please do not close the upload window as long as you see the red progress bar or your upload will be cancelled. If you close the window accidentaly, you can get back to the "shell" you already created via your dashboard. When the upload is finished, the file will be processed on our server. This may take a while, from several minutes up to 24 hours, because all recordings are processed in sequence. But instead of waiting you can now close the window or leave the page. You will get a note on your dashboard as soon as the file processing is finished.

Publish Section
Choose between the different options. You can assign the clearing of the permission to the PLAY.FM moderators. We inform you via your dashboard, whether the recording will be published or the artist denied the permission.

In the edit mode, in which you get by clicking the edit button, you will find on the right hand navigation on the bottom of the site the option: Is this your profile? Claim it. Please add the required information in the layer, which opens by clicking "Claim it" > the moderators will check your claim and validate it.

Options
If you need other people to edit your profile, e.g. your management, promoter, label or artist you can add further editors through the Admin Options, which you will see after a successful claim.

Every registered PLAY.FM user can edit your profile, unless you have not claimed it. We truely believe in honesty and intelligence of mankind, especially of the users of our website. What is claiming and how to claim a profile

To edit any existing profiles you need to login or register as user. On each profile you will find a small edit button, which leads you to the edit mode. You cannot edit profiles, which are already claimed by other users. What is claiming?

You can create any profile, e.g. booking agency, crew or record shop here or you take the way through your dashboard: on your dashboard in the navigation on the right you can choose the section "Profiles". There you will find the link to the site, where you can create all different types of profiles.

The festival schedule of the single days should be added by creating an event for each day and stage and relating them to festival profile. The lineup of the festival will be generated through the lineup of the single events.

For many functionalities on PLAY.FM you need a user profile. The user can edit profiles, add events, use the player in diverse ways, create playlists and so on. In brief: all actions on the website are done by users. The artist, label, crew or any other profiles are quite simple sites, they are not actually capable of doing something on the website. E.g. a user can edit an artist profile, but not the other way round. If you are registered as an artist, this does not mean you also have a user profile. If you want to edit or create your artist site, you need to sign up as a user here.

Maybe it will take us a while to approve your event. However you should find the unapproved events in your dashboard. If your event is not displayed within 24 hours, you can drop us a line at events@play.fm and we will get back to you immediately

In our event section you will find a big red button, which says ADD YOUR EVENT (or go directly to http://www.play.fm/event/create).

Approval
Every event will be checked by the moderators to make sure only appropriate events are displayed in the event schedule. When we once approved an event of you, you will be allowed to add events in the future without the immediate permission of the moderators.

Filling in the form
All information will be automatically added to the related profiles (e.g. displayed on the artist, label, crew profile) In this section also we added the autocompletion to many fields: after you entered the first letters, our database is searched (this might take a few seconds, please have patience) and the autocompletion suggests already existing profiles and styles. Thousands of artists, clubs, styles, crews and events have an existing profile, so you have a good chance to find the correct profile or style via this tool.

Your track / release is automatically available in our Metashop if it is released in one of our partner shops (see What shops does the PLAY.FM Metashop currently work with?)

Go to www.play.fm/shop to search for a track or release. Click "Check shops" for track / release comparison.

To purchase click the "Buy button" which will forward you to the selected shop's site.
Alternatively click the "Shop" button in a tracklist to compare the selected track.

It´s actually not a shop, it´s a meta-shop: compare tracks across various online-shops, e.g. Beatport, Juno and DJtunes based on price, format (Download, Vinyl, CD) and quality.

There is no longer a need to check every shop site individually - Our Metashop shows all offers in one spot!

Click the "Buy button" which will forward you to the selected shop's site for purchasing.

We know - there are so many great mixes out there! Unfortunately the current legal situation does not allow selling of recordings.

To report inapropriate content, poor quality or copyright infringements use the "Flag" button you´ll find in every profile (artist, label, event, etc.) and on every detail page of a recording or send a link to support@play.fm.

You will need the permission of the performing artist. This is either the dj playing the set or a live-act or a band performing in a concert.
In many cases you may obtain permissions from managers, bookers or labels representing the performing artists.

Unfortunately DJ-Sets cannot be downloaded from PLAY.FM. The licence agreements we have with collecting societies and labels do only allow on-demand streaming of dj sets.

Yes, we do.
As PLAY.FM is based in Vienna / Austria we pay licence fees to Austrian collecting societies (AKM, AUME, LSG).

They have contracts with other collecting societies around the world. Therefore a part of the money that PLAY.FM pays here in Austria will be passed on to those collecting societies abroad.

1) Share Button: to manually post links to Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, etc.

You´ll find the "share" button in every profile, on every recording detail page, event page and in the player. It will redirect users directly to recordings, events or profiles on PLAY.FM.

2) Widget: to embed recordings into your website or blog.

Visitors of your website may listen to your favorite recordings on your website - instead of being redirected to PLAY.FM. Recordings will be updated automatically depending on the filter you use, e.g. a club, artist or label. To configure the widget, visit: http://www.play.fm/widgets

3) RSS: to automatically publish links to your favorite recordings on Facebook, MySpace or any other website.

You can either use RSS Reader Apps, eg "RSS Reader" for MySpace
or "Simplaris Blogcast" for Facebook or - if you have some programming skills - follow our instructions for programmers: http://www.play.fm/content/programmers

If you want to use the data from the clubs api for our javascript widget, generate the widget code for a specific club with the options you like and replace some data like in the example below:

Promote artists, labels, events:
If you are a dj, label owner, event promoter or booker, you may create profiles, upload recordings and post events to our calendar.
