Wlliam Holland aka Quantic is a 24 year old full time UK based Musician, DJ and Producer. Recording under a variety of guises, this has offered room to manoeuvre between musical genres and he has surprisingly managed to flit between live offerings and sample based ventures at a drop of a hat, with equal style and panache.
Will Holland is very busy boy, he has established himself as one of the most talented and prolific artists in the world of alternative dance music today. Recording under various guises Will first found acclaim as Quantic, fusing jazz sensibility with dance floor orientated grooves and intelligent breaks.
He has enjoyed the most success with his Quantic moniker. Releasing his first album “The 5th Exotic” in the summer of 2001, it was picked up on by some of the biggest names in underground music. Giles Peterson, Richard Dorfmiester, Mr Scruff and LTJ Bukem all rated it very highly, not surprising when tunes like Common Knowledge and the near classic Life in the Rain had blazed across dance floors all over Europe. With elements of Jazz, Funk and Afro blended with tight breaks and Will`s distinctive production “The 5th Exotic” proved irresistible to many, and won him many plaudits.
He built on this acclaim with the release of “Apricot Morning” less than a year later, dispelling any talk of “the difficult second album”.
Will's DJ sets reflect his all encompassing production ethos, when DJing, he tries "to mix old and new to show some history in my sets" and also likes to keep his ears open for "new and innovative records that push the boundaries a little". With an impressive repertoire of remix work under his belt, a residency at Tru Thought's weekly Saturday club phonic:hoop in Brighton and plenty of guest DJ and live band appearances the world over, it seems the Quantic sound is reaching a bigger audience than ever before.
