Dj Vela's sets reach from powerful, funky, dancefloor-rocking breaks and electro to groovy, sexy lounge and house and have taken her to many clubs and major events across her home base Germany and the whole of Europe, as well as Japan, India, Russia and the USA.
After starting out on her way as an artist in Sofia, Bulgaria with experimental electronics live band Trixter, with diverse Art Performances, painting, designing clothes and organising some of the first underground club events in the city, in 1998 she finally found her way to Berlin and to her forte and true devotion - the Djing.
Since then she has gone from strength to strength, playing around the globe and putting out releases on Dangerous Drums Rec. (a record label and party series built up and run by her and fellow Dj colleague, the highly respected Ed2000) and Movin Target Rec. (Holland).
In 2002 her "Irresistible" made it into the UK Top 40 and in 2006 her AdiSka remix was chosen for the ADIDAS Football World Championship advertising campaign. Another one of her tracks, "Ol' whche's jig", is part of the soundtrack of an independent Detroit based theatre production.
She is currently resident at infamous Berlin locations SOLAR (rooftop, high-end restaurant and lounge, overlooking Berlin), Eschschloraque (a truly legendary Berlin subculture centre frequented by contemporary artists as diverse as Londons Plump Djs, Berlins Pale Music collective and 80s icons Einstürzende Neubauten), Ambulance Lounge, Caroshi and also the GRIPS Theatre, where dj Vela can be seen in the award winning play "Cengiz & Locke", for which she selected the music and performs it live on stage.
In April 2009 you can see her also on the big screen in a very small role in the movie "So glücklich war ich noch nie" (by director Alexander Adolph).
Dj Vela is currently working on new electro club tracks with her project "dj Vela & FX", featuring the wellknown hacker and security consultant Felix "FX" Lindner of Recurity Labs. The first track is available as a free download from her website.
Her future plans include more dj gigs around the globe, more new productions and a brand new radio show, something that she is yearning for since the closure of TWEN FM; the one and only Berlin pirate radio station at which dj Vela was hosting a successful radio show for many consecutive years .
