Spen began his career at the age of 13, producing mix shows for WEBB AM in Baltimore. At this young age, Spen founded one the area's first hip hop production groups, Numarx, and in 1986 they wrote and recorded a track called "Girl You Know It's True", later covered and made famous by Milli Vanilli.
Spen's production talents lead him to The Basement Boys in 1989. With the formation of The Basement Boys record label in 1994, Spen formed Jasper St. Company, and released his first full production, "A Feelin'". With the Basement Boys and Jasper Street, Spen has gained consistent commercial and dancefloor success, and has become an in-demand remix producer. He has done remix work for some of clubland's biggest names, such as Diana Ross, Everything but the Girl, Ann Nesby, and Shaun Escoffery.
With the popularity of his studio work, Spen has become one of America's most sought DJs. A DJ career that has spanned over fifteen years, starting with AM radio in Baltimore, leading to big-time FM in Baltimore and Washington DC, now finds Spen jetting off to gigs at the premier clubs around the world.
