Originally from Sheffield, Nev moved to London as a teenager and it was there where he first got interested in DJ'ing after spending time at Dream FM studio's with a friend who played on the station.
Despite not having any decks Nev started buying the tunes he had come to love and it wasn't until he returned to Sheffield at the age of 21 that he bought his first pair of decks
That was in 1997 at the same time when Speed Garage exploded into the 'National Charts' with tracks like 'Ripgroove' & 'Gunman'. The attraction to this sound was instant, it had the massive basslines of DnB/Jungle where his love for dance music started and it was easier to hear this stuff out because of the chart success.
It was around that time that he discovered 'Niche Allniter' a place big on Speed Garage and Pumping House (Bassline) and he would spend weekend after weekend in there and then become so hooked on the sound the club produced that he started to buy the tunes he was hearing.
In late 1999 after playing some private parties and putting on his own night Nev got an opportunity to play a warm up set at Niche through submitting a mixtape. It was an opportunity he grabbed and was asked to play this set on a regular basis, from there he progressed to the early Sunday morning slots.
Now an established name within the scene Nev is playing all over the country and is co-owner of Nocturnal Records and new label Hotplates.
You can catch Nev Wright playing as a 2 weekly resident @ Q Lounge in Nottingham and also every Monday on Basscutz Live between 6 & 8PM. Show less
