Born in the year 1980 in Frankfurt, Sascha Borchardt bought his first Techno Record at the age of sixteen. One year later he was already spinning in local clubs. At the age of twenty he was ready to take it one step further and bought his first equipment for sound creation. Only two years later he sent out his first Minimal-Techno tracks to various record labels and got very good resonance. In the year 2006 he moved to a
proper studio to focus even more on music production. The new space and his inspiring studio neighbors created a perfect environment for the searching and finding of his very own sound.
In the following year, things started moving. Sascha released his first tracks on the labels Karateclub and Lördag and got to know the people of Spinclub Recordings who were immediately into his independent and unpredictable sound.
In the beginning of 2008 he started releasing music under the name of Monoloc and founded his own label Smallroom Music. At this point he had singles and EPs out on Enable Recordings, Sonata Music and Smallroom Music. He has released artists like Brian Sanhaji, Matt Star, Jan Hendez on his emerging label.
His sound could be described as a skillful blending of organic and electronic elements. A mixture of obvious, as much as hidden quotes from various musical styles, always true to his Minimal-Techno roots. Monoloc sometimes even introduces bits and pieces from classical music, which adds a special atmosphere to his productions.
As musical influences he names diverse artists such as Depeche Mode, U2, Kraftwerk, Thomas Brinkmann, Farben, Smash TV, Robag Wruhme and Johannes Heil. As inspiring labels he considers Kompakt, Playhouse, MaxErnst, Kanzleramt and Force.Inc.
In the end of 2008, the self-contained Dj, producer and label-owner signed exclusively with CLR Booking and started a monthly residency at Chris Liebing..s Spinclub show on the radio stations Ibiza Sonica / Ibiza Global Radio and released his first EP on Spinclub Recordings. For 2009 he has plans on all kinds of levels. It will be worth paying attention to this up and coming artist.
“Monoloc..s sort of “thrifty” production without any dispensable or random sounds offers loads of room for the individual elements to develop. The traces of lo-fi, babbles and background noises add a certain rawness to his intricate sound. Sensitive and elegant, atmospheric and dramatic, efficient and direct... Another surprising and faultless SCR release and another artist to keep in mind!” Show less
