Marco Spiegel, alias Marc Miroir was born in Würzburg in 1975. Music has always been his great passion. Already in elementary school he is fascinated of radio music, so that he listens to diverse radio shows all night long. At the age of 12 he buys his first records, in order to listen to them on the record player of his parents. His sense of music changes during the next 3 years from pop/EBM to hip hop. Of course, the two 1210s and a mixer must not be missed. Just at this time he learns to mix, to scratch and other Dj skills. In 1991/92 Würzburg is gripped by a techno/trance wave, and it is entering the Club Airport. Thus, also he is infected by the techno fever and all records of this formerly new music style have to be bought.
1993 – 1995:
First of all Marc plays at smaller techno events, school and private parties. Here the contact with the eventcrew “Future Worx”, that organizes the best techno parties and raves in and around Würzburg outside the Airport, begins. At these events he plays as resident Dj in many clubs in Würzburg and big events in the administrative district. Creating a mass appeal in no time, also the Airport pays attention to him, by what he turns the tables in the legendary Noise Club of the “old” Airport at regular intervals. From now on, everything develops at high speed, and Marc gets the chance to play in other cities like Nürnberg or Bayreuth. He becomes resident in the “Zone”, the number one scene-lounge in Würzburg at this time, and on New Year´s Eve 1995 he plays in the big club of the new Airport for the first time.
1996:
Even two weeks after this New Year´s Eve Marc Miroir wins the Dj contest at the Airport, whereupon monthly gigs as resident-Dj follow. Furthermore, he is resident at the Amnesia@Eastside in Schweinfurt always on Friday nights. In this year also the last “Future Worx”-parties take place, that direct him to clubs like Planet House in Schweinfurt.
1997:
In this year he has his first gig at the Matrix in Berlin and also a first radio liveset with an interview at Kiss FM. At the Airport he plays further on as resident on Saturday nights, and on Wednesday at the Noise Club. Here he can experiment a lot, and he mixes electro, house and techno, in order to optimize his Dj skills.
1998/99:
Since ´98 he has played annually at Nature One in the so called “Airport-Bunker”. At the same time at another summer open air party, the “Love Base” in Tauberbischofsheim, he achieves great success. Also in the techno metropolises of Frankfurt and Munich he attracts attention, and he is booked for the club Dorian Gray (FFM) two times and several times in the next years for the Nachtwerk (Electric Delicate Enventseries, Munich) respectively. He has finally found his style, which he still sticks to. Pushing, impulsive techno, with addiction to minimalism, without ever losing its groove.
2000:
Now Marc is booked out nearly every weekend. He plays at the Loveparade on the Airport truck for the first time and afterwards at the “Fantasia” in the Kulturbrauerei (Berlin). His most important clubgig in this year is at the legendary Stammheim in Kassel. This year he begins to gain interest in producing. With different friends he puzzles on tracks, which indeed have never been published.
2001:
It is his most successful year to that date. He plays at all important festivals of this summer: SonneMondSterne, Nature One , Liberty One and on the Airport truck at the Loveparade. This is followed by his first gig in Ibiza at Nature Club@Privilege. He gains success in various national clubs. During his residency at the Airport he plays nearly with all well-known Djs. Thus, he also gets in contact with Pascal FEOS, who, being convinced of Marc´s abilities and talent, gets in touch with Kai Randy Michel, also a PV artist. From now on Marc produces his first releases together with him on PV. Their first track (“electronic bubbles”) convinces the labelboss Pascal FEOS that much, that he licences it immediately for the first Airport departure compilation. Henceforth he is listed in the artistrooster of FEOS-booking, and thereby bookable. Miroir´s continuously good performances, and the assortment of his gigs is appreciated by the readers in the Groove Mag´s poll: he obtains position number 10 within the newcomers 2001, and position number 16 among the best national Djs.
2002:
Still he climbs the ladder of success steadily. Having won many fans in other cities by previous clubgigs over the past years, he is of course booked consistently. He is regular guest in many clubs and new bookings follow, like at the Phonodrom in Hamburg, the Distillery in Leipzig, or the H.de.M. in Hannover. At the Sumo Club in Marburg he is engaged for a two months residency. In summer he plays a set of 6 hours on the legendary Airport/M1 Truck, and celebrates his birthday at the Airport with leading guests like Chris Liebing, Pascal FEOS, Karotte and Massimo. His debut single “electronic bubbles” is released in autumn on Pascal FEOS label PV-records, which includes, besides the titletrack two other productions of Kai and Marc. The climax, and, at the same time, completion of this year is his gig at Rave on Snow in Saalbach, where he can present his groovy sound in an ideal way.
2003:
This year begins as well for Marc, as the previous ended. Now he is booked also abroad, like e.g. at the Rohstofflager in Zürich. One of his personal highlights of this year is the afterhour subsequent to the Milky Way Rave at the Airport on Easter, which he arranges with Sven Väth until far into the night. In summer he plays again at some open air events, and one afterparty following the Loveparade in Berlin. In August his second maxi single “the real estate EP” is released on PV-records. This record earns very good reviews, and the tracks are to be found in the playlists of many well-known Djs. His first mix-Cd, which he compiled for the Airport together with Andre Galluzzi (Cocoon/Berlin), appears in October (Airport Departure Mix Series Vol. 2 ). In the review of Raveline Magazine this CD gets full marks, and in the readerpoll of the Groove Mag it is voted for the fourth best compilation of the year. In the range of the CD release and referring to the Airport Departure Vol. 2 Tour he tours through many hip, national clubs. In the Groove´s readerpoll his fans elect him on position 14 of the most favoured german Djs.
2004:
This year´s main focus is put on the establishment of his label, in which he is investing a lot of time and energy. His label, that he has been persuing together with Micha Klang (Nürnberg), DJ Sebrok (Berlin) and Joachim Spallek (Erlangen) since May of this year, is called Paso-Music. At the end of 2004 the four musiclovers can look back at four Paso-releases, and in three of them Marc Miroir was significantly involved as producer. Paso 004, arranged by Marc and his new producer Tom Klein appears in December 2004. It is played by leading Djs like Dj Hell, Monika Kruse, etc. Also at the end of this year his third maxi single “Plastic soul EP” is released on PV-records. The track “birdcage”, that he arranged together with the producer Lars Müller from Cologne, is released in August on a compilation called Groovezeugtraeger Vol. 1. Accordingly, Marc can be proud to be able to look back at five releases this year. In spite of this exceeding engagement as producer, Marc still turns the tables nearly every weekend. Besides his numerous gigs at the Airport, his bookings not only conduct him through the whole republic, but also abroad. Traditionally he can be heard on several events in summer and at the Rave on Snow (Saalbach) in this year´s winter, he rocks the mountains on Friday and Saturday.
2005:
Once again the main focus of the year 2005 is more in line with Djing. Marc plays at many big events like Winterworld, Nature One in Century Circus, Summership or Rave on Snow. Moreover he plays in Spain for several times in well-known clubs, like Florida 135 or Sala 31, besides his numerous national bookings. Furthermore he can post one maxi single release, which was again produced together with Tom Klein. It appears in October on Paso-Music, and is also played by leading Djs like Dave Clarke, Pascal FEOS or Karotte. A very joyful incident is the licensing of his track “Theme Park” for the Time Warp Compilation 2005m, mixed by Dj Hell. Being present on many important events, the extent of his recognition has grown continuously, and so the readers of the Groove Magazine elected him number 11 among the best national Djs.
2006:
Marc has several gigs abroad this year. He has already played at the Partysan Thaibreak in Thailand and will be seen in many Spanish Clubs, like the Space on Ibiza or La Cova in Barcelona, and even some Swiss clubs will welcome him. But as well by German clubs, like the Cocoon Club in Frankfurt, the Pulp Mansion in Berlin and many more, he is booked frequently. Besides that he is support act at the “Pascal FEOS´ Synaptic World Tour”.
He will release two maxis. “Scope” will appear at Oliver Huntemann`s Label “Confused” in April. His own label “Paso-Music” will publish “Arabic Special Gum“ in May. In addition he is making a remix for Live Large Records with his current producer.
