2005 has been a vintage year for MC LowQui, now firmly established as part of the infamous Metalheadz camp he has just returned from touring Australia & New Zealand with Goldie and is an integral part of the current Metalheadz “Winter of Content” album tour.
LowQui is also currently on tour around Europe with Artificial Intelligence celebrating the launch of their new Widescreen Recordings label. Talking of new labels, SHY FX brought LowQui on board for his Digital Soundboy label launch party as the only other MC alongside MC Skibadee.
The mighty Movement camp have also been supporting his cause with regular appearances at the award winning night at Bar Rhumba and guest spots at their Liquid V events.
Since hosting a set with Fabio on the a bbc.co.uk/1Xtra Xtra Bass tour live broadcast for Drum and Bass Arena, LowQui has become a firm favourite at DNBA nights in Sheffield and in London.
The BBC also recently hosted a studio mix album for Bassbin Records, with LowQui appearing alongside label head honcho Rohan to widespread acclaim.
LowQui has been a regular on the mic now for over a decade; he has a lyrical flow that has to be seen to be believed and his lyrical delivery regularly wins over the most demanding ravers, even on the notoriously hard to please London scene.
With a distinctive, intimate style, LowQui grew up on the hardcore jungle techno scene back in the day, and the styles of the legendary Stevie Hyper D and MC GQ are resonant in his flow and delivery. As the beats and basslines have progressed, so his lyrics have evolved and moved onto a higher level. LowQui believes that the music comes first, with sporadic rhymes subtly overlaid to enhance the atmosphere at any venue, large or small.
LowQui truly loves the current diversity of drum n bass and he can be heard flowing over every style from tech to dark, to jump up to liquid to dub to choppage to old skool jungle and every sub genre in between. Its All dnb baby!
LowQui`s popularity has soared, what with breakbeat.co.uk forum members voting him to MC at legendary rave DESIRE and Artificial Intelligence inviting him to be guest MC for ATM Magazine Cover CD (issue 61).
MC LowQui is making his presence felt globally with an intelligent, constantly evolving MC style that not only works with the basslines of both old and new skool drum and bass DJ sets, but, more recently, is being used with nu skool breaks and also with live acts.
LowQui has hyped crowds all across the globe, Australia, Austria, Dubai, Estonia, France, Germany, Holland, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Poland, Portugal, the USA, Wales and his native UK, Mc`ing alongside headlining Dj`s such as Goldie, Artificial Intelligence, Total Science, John B, Bailey, Shy FX, Storm, Blame, Doc Scott, Marcus Intalex, Klute, Teebee, D-Bridge, Bryan G & Zinc, Breakage & Rohan to name just a few.
