Due to the artistic background of his parents, Hecq has been in contact with many styles
of music from the day on that he was born. His musical interests run wide and deep,
having begun with the influences of his artistic parents such as Bach, Bartók and Haydn,
and eventually moving on to Duran Duran, Billy Idol, Gary Moore and U2. But it was
Aphex Twin´s “Donkey Rhubarb” and Autechre´s “Tri Repetae” which had finally brought
him to electronic music.
With his own music he wants to convert the specific ideas and moods of all sorts of
artistic works – paintings, movies, books, and the musical approaches that impress him.
The outcome is complex, intense breaks and melodic themes intermingling with dark
atmospheric ambient and emotional droning. To make it short: dynamic and crisp
postelectronics. He said converting what influences you enlightened him.
He likes to work together with acts whose music differs from his, just because he is
excited by the experiments. He has done that with In Strict Confidence, for example. He
is planning on various other collaborations in the future, so there will be something up
and coming.
In the past, Hecq has produced two albums and some remixes for other artists such as
L´ombre, Architect, and In Strict Confidence. On Kaleidoskop Records he has released
his first album called “A Dried Youth”, and then, a year later in 2004 his second called
“Scatterheart”. It has been released on Hymen Records. On the same label his third and
fourth albums had been released during 2005 and 2007 – “Bad Karma” and “0000” –
whereas “0000” comes as a Double-CD with album-remixes by selected producers on
CD2! In 2006 his first 12”-release on Onpa was out. A beatiful EP called “Zetha” with a
Daniel Myer-remix on the flip. Show less
