Geb.el - House, Clubhouse, Disco - DJ Sets

Geb.el started spinning soul, jazz and hip hop at the beginning of the eighties in his hometown Vienna. Behind the decks he witnessed the birth of house and techno. In the early days these new styles were not always well received. Geb.el, however, viewed house and techno as simply the logical evolution of so-called "black music".

Due to his success as DJ, Geb.el started to produce music in 1991. His first track, Escape, on the Compilation Danube Dance, made it even into the Italian radio dance charts "Los Cuarenta", although Escape had not been released on 12".

In 1991 Geb.el also released Blue Moon with Richard Dorfmeister under the project name Verschärft, which later became the Kruder-Dorfmeister hit High Noon.

Geb.el's next tracks were released under the name Caypyrynha on the Italian house labels New Music and Mantra, and again reached places in the top 5 of Radio Italia Network.

At the same time Helmut Lang showed interest in Geb.el's work. Entering the fashion world, Geb.el produced music for several shows in Paris and received credits for his work, above all, in The New York Times.

In 1994 Geb.el started to play Drum n' Bass, which led to a cooperation with Uptight Records. In the following years Geb.el produced tracks for Uptight and also did remixes for the project Blackwing and the American Jazz legend Mark Murphy.

Geb.el moved to London in 1998 and in 2000 he signed to the well-acknowledged German label Mole Listening Pearls, then moved to Frankfurt/Main. In the same year his debut album From A Distant Point Of View was released and the 12" Love From The Sun hit the German DCC charts and stayed number 1 for several weeks. In 2001 a special limited editon of the successful album was launched with previously unreleased dance tracks.

Due to his DJ career Geb.el was asked to mix a compilation. He mixed house and broken beats on the CD released as Pearl Diver No 1.

In 2003 Geb.el moved to his hometown Vienna, did remixes for the project Soundhotel and started working togehter with Georg O. Luksch on a new album under the project name Artificial Flavour.

Geb.el has been Djing for more than 20 years now, still moves the crowd and still loves doing it. Show less
