Fredrik Funk, born in Bangkok Thailand to a Thai mother and Swedish father in June of 1981. He has been interested in music and dance since an early age. As early as age nine he was designing his own audiophonic sound systems and listening to music that was way ahead of his peers. When Freddy turned twelve he entered the school DJ club and played the school dances later growing an appreciation for Acid Jazz. Shortly after he would recieve musical guidance from his father an extremely knowledgable man about technique and style in any instrument and genre of jazz pre 1960 such as swing and bebop being a former resident lead singer as a teenager in a Swedish big band himself, some other members whom continued to recieve worldwide acclaim. All this knowledge has been instilled deeply into Freddy starting with Coltrane at 14 and then graduating to listening to Parker at 16 later entering into a long big band faze favorites being Duke Ellingtons early works from the 20's and 30's. Even though Freddy is able to play the highest quality of rare and important dance music of the 20 and 21st century he always identifies with the learning curve of the audience providing a more dancefloor friendly but jazzy sound. Here we can lift standards by dropping jazz here and there, but once in a blue moon when the audience has the sophistication and everything is right Freddy can play solely jazz on the dancefloor and the audience go wild and are extremely impressed. When this is possible it's not uncommon to have someone comment to Freddy that they have been around the world and the best music they have ever heard in a club has been right here in Bangkok during one of Fredrik Funk`s elite Dj sets. Currently Fredrik Funk is a resident at many places in Bangkok most notably the Longtable a restaurant bar by the famed Bed Supperclub and the Qbar for a Monday night called Eavesdrop, Qbar`s only downtempo night where Fredrik jams with jazz soloists.
