Ever since first emerging, Greek born, Berlin based Konstantinos Tassopoulos aka Ekkohaus has been looking for new grooves and exciting frequencies to experiment with. This constant sonic search has led him to journey beyond borders and cities, beyond language and symbols. It’s been a journey where music and ideas are the only passport one needs in order to experience true feelings, unconditional passion and the power of suggestion.
Ekkohaus had many early affairs with different music styles and genres, continuously expanding his sound palette and drawing inspiration from the places he has lived and worked: Greece, London and most recently Berlin. He started by playing real instruments like piano, drums, vibraphone, marimba and other melodic percussion, then in the mid nineties purchased his first Roland Drum Machine and since then electronic music has been his pre occupation.
As a graduate of a Music Technology course at London College of Music and Media, Ekkohaus is apassionate student of sound who has gone on to release on respected labels such as Morris Audio, Cargo Edition, 2020Vision and Moon Harbour. With Cargo Edition Ekkohaus has formed his most lasting bond, forever releasing a functional house sound that has helped to shape the imprint in recent years.
His latest contribution to the Moon Harbour cannon is debut album Noschool, a 13 track album that explores the Greek’s signature sound warm 4/4 beats, involving bass and cute sampling but also leans on a whole lifetime of influence from jazz to funk, hip hop to dub to disco. Given his well honed skill for crafting unfamiliar sounds and inviting rhythms, it was no wonder Electronic Beats Magazine made Ekkohaus the star of their Slices Publication DVD feature 2/2011.
Besides his residencies at Multi Vitamins and Strictly No Dancing in London and Timex Club in Berlin, Ekkohaus has performed both live and as a DJ at exhibitions, art events, house parties, as well as famous clubs such as Fabric, Panoramabar, Watergate, Tresor, Cocoon, Studio80 and many others around Europe.
As a DJ he takes pleasure in mixing other people's music from house to techno to disco and showcasing his own unique style, while as a live act “it is usually about making people dance so it is less of a listening experience and more of a direct interaction” says the man himself. After almost ten years in the game, then, Ekkohaus is still as sharp as ever. Show less
