Roughly speaking Duffstep is about 2-Steps short of a Dubstep and often moves in disguise to avoid detection. Until now Duffstep has hidden in the seedy undergrowth of London, ever plotting his imminent escape. This bid for freedom is known as ‘Getting To Sirius’ amongst those who know.
Sirius is the brightest star in the night sky, in Ancient Greek times Sirius was said to mark the beginning of summer, where men became weak and women aroused. Duffstep’s debut album ‘Getting To Sirius’ is a myriad of dub influenced, down tempo beats and soothing sonic backdrops; melodies, synths and vocals soften the warm and fuzzy edges, before a nice big bassline knocks you down again.
Getting to Sirius is a migration from early morning blissful sweeps and sonic washes to your basic all out space-rave. Aside from travelling to Sirius on weekends, Duffstep can also be found sharing a stage with some of the biggest names in electronic music, Flying Lotus, Martyn, Kode 9 and King Midas Sound to name a few.
Duffstep will be debuting his AV live show, a collaboration with one of the UK VJ scenes star assets Rebel Overlay in August at Cargo. Keep an ear out for Duffstep releases on Join The Dots, Electricminds & Saigon Recordings in the near future. Show less
