input - output inc. chief cynthia stern was born in the late 70's in
gothenburg, swedens "electro capital". he started his music career in 1991
when he bought his set of turntables, which he still uses by the way.
started of as a jungle dj but when the dnb scene got too trendy and hyped
he met his good friend moment h, who got him into techno. and in a few
years he played frequently in gothenburg.
in mid 90's he astarted producing music and during this time he met
j.antoni and together with andreas p. they started a music and graffiti
collective acalled "urban electro squad" which resulted in 2 releases in
1997, ex.girlfriends (ues001) & remixed girlfriends (ues002) incl. a
c.strern & j.antoni remix). during this time cynthia also moved to
stockholm. in 1998 cynthia left u.e.s. and went on his own. the u.e.s. squad
is still going on strong.
in 1997 cynthia started input - output inc. with a goal to bring all of his
producing and dj.ing friends under one name. after a while input - output
inc. took more shape as a record label. and in april the first release was
out, i love my 808 (which also was the name of a sticker campaign the
i-o-inc squad did earlier that year) a split e.p. between cynthia & tobias
von hofsten. in 2000 the title track was licensed to dave clarkes world
service mix-cd on react records (uk).
later the same year as the first release was out cynthia started a long
distance colaboration with tampopo from toulouse, france, who also was
releasing records on hells gigolo imprint. this colaboration resulted in a
4-track e.p. called "just married, a colection of robotology tracks". this
e.p. was released as i-o-i002 but due to some troubles with the manufacturor
this e.p. was only released in 4 copies (white labels).
in 2000 he got in contact with polish marcin czubala. after he had been
sending demos to the label. this demo was in 2001 released as the video game
e.p. (i-o-i003) and at the same time the brilliant t.s.r. arnolds wet dreams
e.p. (i-o-i004) was released. during this time cynthia did a track for a
compilation for marcin's "currentlyu processing" label. the compilation came
out in early 2002 feat. artists such as dave tarrida, subhead, ibrahim alfa,
daniel benavente, to name a few.
later in 2002 marcin's video game e.p. was remixed by steve glencross,
ibrahim alfa & joseph garber and was released as "marcin's re.edited video
game" in the fall of '02. when working on this record cynthia got a good
relation with ibrahim alfa and their friendship resulted in many gigs around
europe and cynthia also took place as the official dj for the "3 years of
automatic records tour" in 2002. cynthia has also been producing an amount
of tracks for the automatic label which will be released in the near future
and ibrahim alfa did input - output inc. 006 "your culture is our nature".
during this time cynthia also met his now good friend lief ryan from
manchester and after a few gigs together he did a split e.p. for his
growth label which wa released in early 2003.
in 2003 cynthia and his good friend ivan alfaro started a club in stockholm
called spassfaktor. the goal with the club was to raise the standard in
stockholms club-scene. after a while they discovered that a weekly club was
not working in the narrow minded stockholm. so now they are just doing
locational parties. but during their club nights they had artists like ibrahim
alfa, lief ryan, komatrohn, yim, bas m, gena, mhonolink to name a few.
cynthia is still djing all over the globe and has during his career played
with artists such as neil landstrumm, subhead, paul "damage" bailey, steve
glencross, ibrahim alfa, tobias von hofsten, secret cinema, bjørn svin,
danijel alpha, jesper dahlbäck, etc. Show less
