With his sets Ben Klock creates an atmosphere, which is grounded in deepness. They slowly build into euphoria and eventually explode on a deep, bassy and tough tip.
His styles range from dry, but meaty minimal beats to heart opening rave orgasms. He blends Detroit and Chicago tracks from the good old days into those of the present worth being played out.
Ben’s musical roots are varied. He starts to play the piano at an early stage and also records in his mini studio with a keyboard. Later, he does gigs as a singer and guitarist in a rock band. Generally, he always engages in a lot of different genres. What drives him most, though, is an urge for new sounds. „Af After the pretty superficial and poppy styles of the 80s, I experienced the new electronic sounds of the 90s to be very liberating. Al Also, having experienced the new Berlin club culture after the wall came down, left a big impression on me.“
In the 90s, gigs at Be Berlin based clubs like Tresor, WMF and Cookies have firmly placed Be Ben on the map of the Capital’s nightlife. Since the opening of the already legendary Berghain, he also is a steady fixture of this most popular Berlin club. Here, he has found the perfect space to fulfil his needs for harder sounds.
Berghain is a place committed to the tradition of huge, excessive Techno nights. At the same time, it is the breeding ground for a lot of new things. “This is, where I find the freedom I need.”
With releases on labels such as OstGut Ton, Bp Bpitch and Memo, Ben Kl Klock quickly made himself a name beyond the German borders. Since 2007 he also runs his own label Klockworks: a platform dedicated to the more tool-y side of Techno.
