There is a rumbling and a growing excitement in dance music’s underground surrounding an act that is primed and ready to explode onto the scene. Iranian/Canadian Amirali will soon have the world at his feet and the universe in his pocket, with his debut artist album ‘In Time’ released on Crosstown Rebels on May 14th.
For Amirali, music is the centrifugal force in his universe, he grew up on a strict diet of classical, jazz, blues and rock'n'roll in his home country of Iran and from the tender of age of just 5, started taking Piano lessons and he quickly acquired a taste for composing his own pieces. In his early teens, he was first exposed to the raw electronic sounds of Depeche Mode, Portishead, Massive Attack and was immediately "trapped by their music" professes Amirali. It was also around that time that his parents, wanting a better standard of living for their young son, decided to move to Toronto where Amirali began to taste the excitement of night time clubbing culture, all the while continuing his lessons in Piano.
Slowly but surely, Amirali's passion for electronic music and composition merged into a hunger and a thirst for a career as an artist. It was at this point, just as he finished college in Toronto that he moved to London to study his family's trade: Architecture. The primary reason behind this move however was that he knew Europe is where he had to be in order to make it as an artist.
His mysterious and haunting vocals and forward thinking musical style caught the attention of A&R extraordinaire and Rebels head honcho Damian Lazarus. Damian promptly signed him for an artist album, and used his track ‘My Way’ to open his visionary compilation CD - Get Lost 4. This was quickly followed by the hit single release ‘Beautiful World’ which reared its head in January 2012 and gained huge acclaim from DJs and music aficionados alike.
His sound is guaranteed to make your mouth water and your feet tap and his output is a brilliant mish mash of house, techno, funk, electronica, disco and everything in between. Think Depeche Mode jet propelled into the 22nd century whilst being chauffeured by Art Department & Underworld.
It is rare that an artist is signed to one of the most established labels out there without a single commercial release previously, but Amirali is an incredibly talented musician, not just a producer. He performs his music live with vocals, keys, loops and effects; re-editing his unique tracks on the fly, catering them to his audience. Having already wowed crowds at Fabric London, Watergate Berlin, Get Lost Miami, Grelle Forelle Vienna, Gloss Club Milan and Rebel Rave shows in Sydney & Melbourne, It wont be long until you’ll be seeing and hearing Amirali everywhere… Show less
